The 49th Station Le Seau Monteberg Rally was scheduled for Sunday 2 May, but Club Superstage has decided to postpone the rally to Sunday 27 June. On that day, the Monteberg Rally will share its route with three different special stages with the Bernard Degroote Ypres Historic Rally, which starts from Ypres.
The reason for postponing the Montebeg Rally is obvious. Club Superstage wants to give the vaccinations every opportunity to take effect before the rally is held.
"Last year, the Station Le Seau Monteberg Rally was the first rally to be organised as a Covid trial at the end of August. We proved that it was possible to organise a rally in safe conditions. Meanwhile, our country has started the vaccinations. By postponing the rally from 2 May until the end of June, there is almost two extra months for vaccinations," said Jan Huyghe on behalf of Club Superstage.
After the success of the previous edition, Poperinge remains the base of the Station Le Seau Monteberg Rally. The three different and partly renewed special stages, Dikkebus, Monteberg and Busseboom, are on the program again. This makes the Monteberg Rally an ideal rally for teams who want to prepare for the big event of the season, the Renties Ypres Rally Belgium (12-15 August), which will count for the FIA World Rally Championship for the first time.
On Sunday 27 June, the route will be shared with the Bernard Degroote Ypres Historic Rally, which starts from Ypres. It is clear that the last weekend of June in 2021 will be dominated by top rallying.
